Happy World Book Day 2012!

from everyone at Sunpenny!

As many of you will know, today is World Book Day. This annual day is in celebration of authors, illustrators and books but most importantly of READING! Over the years this event has been running it has become a worldwide celebration with over 100 countries marking the occasion.

Its' main aim is to encourage a lifelong love of literature and reading in children and as part of this, children in the UK receive a £1 book token to be redeemed for one of the free World Book Day books or as a discount on any book-store book of their choice. This year, 14 million tokens are expected to be given out and many events are taking places in schools and libraries around the UK from writing workshops to literary fancy dress competitions .

Why not use the book tokens as an opportunity to get a discount off our Sunberry books if you have children? Click on the images of our two current children's titles for more information.

How have you been celebrating reading today? I'll be curling up with a book that's been sitting on my shelf unread for a long time. We'd love to hear what you've been doing, whether you attended a workshop held for children, your children dressed up as their favourite book day character at school or if you bought a new book today. You can let us know by commenting under this blog post or tweeting us at @Sunpenny Publish on Twitter.

Meanwhile, why not celebrate by feasting your eyes on these beautiful bookcases designed by Alex Johnson's on the Guardian website here. Enjoy!
